Extreme weather events, damages on infrastructure, power supplies Considering that extreme weather events are both common and influential on life, the objectives of this unit are to help understand the scientific processes and factors that contribute to the extreme weather events in a changing climate; help consider socio-economic and environmental vulnerabilities, and finally, to cultivate a sense of environmental responsibility and citizenship. In 2 hour study-time, students become aware about extreme weather events as well as the good practices for preventing them.
